The Easiest Peach Crisp

The winter months always make me want something warm from the summer months. I have quite a bit of peaches that I canned over the summer, but you can make this recipe using apples or even blueberries. This goes perfectly with some vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, which I don't have but it's also great by itself. I also happen to like a thick crumble topping, you can always use less and save any extra topping to top homemade muffins before baking

Filling Ingredients:

1 quart +1 pint of canned peaches (you can also use 3-4 cups of fresh peaches cut in slices)

2 T flour

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

2 T brown sugar

Topping Ingredients:

3/4 cup instant oats

1/2 stick room temperature butter

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 cup flour

Instructions:

1)Drain the peaches (if using canned) and place into a bowl. Add the remaining filling ingredients and stir until the flour is dissolved.

2) Combine all the topping ingredients separately and crumble the butter with your hands. Mix well until thoroughly combined and the butter is the size of peas

3) Butter a 9x9 pan, add the filling and spread until even. Sprinkle the topping evenly.

4) Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown
